Collectibles Needed

To unlock the top May Retro Lightning reward, your focus should be on May Spotlight Pack cards rather than the free weekly program rewards. Here’s what to know:

  • Target Count: While the final requirement for the “boss” card will be fully revealed in June, the collection tracker currently starts by requiring 11 Spotlight Pack players to progress.
  • The Gatekeepers: These collectibles aren’t from standard program drops—they’re primarily obtained through Show Shop purchases or via Reward Path milestones.

Early Spotlight Pack cards you can collect include:

  • 90 OVR Topps Now Andrew Morris (RP)
  • 91 OVR Topps Now Drew Romo (C)
  • 93 OVR Spotlight Mickey Moniak (LF)

These early pulls give you a head start toward completing your Retro Lightning collection.

Progression & Milestone Bonuses

The May Retro Lightning Legend & Flashback Collection offers tiered bonuses as you lock in cards:

  • Tier 1 (5 Cards Collected): Receive a Spotlight Pack bonus, giving you additional chances to pull required collectibles.
  • Tier 2 (10 Cards Collected): Unlock a high-diamond Flashback Mini-Boss player, similar to April’s 93 OVR Jose Soriano.
  • Tier 3 (Full Collection): Claim the 94+ OVR May Retro Lightning Player, the event’s ultimate reward.

These tiered milestones make it easier to see tangible progress while keeping the grind rewarding.

Strategy Tip

Keep your cards organized! Free program or moment cards contribute only to the Regular May Lightning Player. The premium Spotlight Pack cards are the ones that count toward the Retro Lightning collection.

To maximize efficiency:

  • Focus on XP Reward Path milestones to earn free Spotlight Packs instead of relying solely on purchases.
  • Prioritize locking in cards from the Spotlight Packs early to steadily build toward the ultimate Retro Lightning player.
  • Avoid mixing standard rewards with premium cards—track your collection carefully to prevent wasting stubs or resources.

By staying organized and following the progression bonuses, you can make steady headway in the May Retro Lightning program and be ready for the high-tier throwback card dropping in June.
