Eidok is a place where people share their lives, talk with friends, follow the news they trust, discover businesses and connect with people all over the world. Because you trust us with your information, we want to be completely clear about what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with and — most importantly — the controls you have.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Eidok website at eidok.com, the Eidok app for Android, the Eidok mobile website (including when you add it to your home screen), and every product, feature and service we offer under the Eidok name (together, the “Service”). It applies to everyone who uses the Service, whether or not they have an account.

In short

  • What we collect: the information you give us (such as your account details and what you post), information created when you use Eidok (such as what you view and your device information), and information we receive from partners you choose to connect (such as Eye News BD sign-in or a Metanoz shop).
  • Why: to run and personalise Eidok, to power features like Tell your feed and Moment Match (formerly called Moment Match), to keep people safe, to help businesses understand their audience in aggregate, and to meet our legal duties.
  • Sharing: what you post is shared with the audience you choose. We share information with service providers who help us run Eidok, with partners you choose to connect, and when the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information.
  • Your control: you choose who sees each post, who can contact you and what appears in your feed. You can access, download, correct and delete your information.

1. Information You Give Us

You can use parts of Eidok, such as reading public blogs, without an account. To post, connect with people and use most features, you need an account, and you choose what information to give us.

1.1 Account information

When you create an account we collect:

  • Your name and username. Your name is shown on your profile and next to your content. Your username forms your profile address, for example eidok.com/yourname.
  • Email address. Used to sign in, verify your account, recover access and send you important messages about your account.
  • Password. Stored only in an encrypted (hashed) form — we cannot see it.
  • Date of birth. Used to confirm you are old enough to use Eidok and to apply the right protections for younger people.
  • Gender. Used for grammar and personalisation, and shown on your profile only if your privacy settings allow it.
  • Phone number (optional). If you add one, it can be used for verification and account security.

1.2 Profile information

You can add more information to your profile, such as a profile photo and cover photo, a short biography, your country, current city and hometown, work and education, relationship status, website and links to your other social accounts. All of this is optional. You decide who can see each part of your profile in your privacy settings.

1.3 Content you create and share

We collect and store the content you create on Eidok so we can show it to the people you choose. This includes:

  • posts, text with coloured backgrounds, photos and albums, videos, polls, feelings, activities and locations you add;
  • reels, stories and live broadcasts;
  • comments, replies and reactions;
  • blogs, courses, forum threads, events, offers, jobs and products;
  • groups and pages you create, and the information you add to them;
  • moments you share in Moment Match, including the photo, your note and the mood you select;
  • clips and cards created from Adda rooms and Moment Match.

Photos and videos can contain information such as the date and time they were taken. We may use this information to process the file, and we strip or reduce it where appropriate when we resize images.

1.4 Messages

When you send private messages, we store them so they can be delivered and so you and the people you talk to can see your conversation history. Messages in Moment Match chats are processed as described in section 5, including automatic translation and safety checks.

1.5 Requests you make to AI features

When you use Tell your feed, we collect the request you type or speak (for example “only sports today”) and any question you ask. When you use voice input, speech is converted to text by your browser or device; we receive the resulting text.

1.6 Payment information

If you purchase a paid feature, such as a membership package, boosted content or advertising, your payment is processed by a payment provider. We receive a confirmation of the payment, the amount and limited details needed for our records. We do not store your full card number.

1.7 Communications with us

When you contact us, file a report, appeal a decision or give feedback, we collect the information you provide, such as your email address and the content of your message.

2. Information We Collect When You Use Eidok

2.1 Usage information

We collect information about how you use Eidok, for example:

  • the pages, profiles, groups and features you visit and use;
  • the posts, reels, videos and news you view, how long you view them and how you interact (reacting, commenting, sharing, saving, hiding);
  • searches you make on Eidok;
  • people, pages and groups you follow, like, join or block;
  • your settings and preferences, such as your language, theme (day or night mode) and whether Data Saver is on;
  • interactions with products and advertising, such as tapping “Buy Now” on a product from a connected shop.

2.2 Device and connection information

When you access Eidok we receive information from your device and browser, including:

  • IP address, browser type and version, operating system and device model;
  • language and time zone settings (for example, Moment Match uses your time zone to show local times on moment cards);
  • referring website and the pages you visit before and after Eidok, where your browser provides them;
  • dates, times and duration of visits, and error and performance data.

2.3 Location information

  • Approximate location: we may infer your general location, such as your country or city, from your IP address or the location you add to your profile, to show relevant content and protect your account.
  • Location you add: if you choose to add a location to a post or profile, it is shown to the audience of that post or profile.
  • Disaster alerts: if you allow location, the app or website sends your rough area, rounded to about 1 km, so we can warn you about dangers near you. It is replaced each time and cleared if not updated for 3 days. You can instead save only a home and a work area.
  • Safety & SOS and Safe Walk: while an SOS or Safe Walk is on, your phone sends your precise location so that the family members and emergency numbers you chose can see where you are. These places are deleted 7 days after the session ends.
  • Proof Vault: where your phone allows it, the place where a recording was made is saved with it.
  • My Day timeline (optional): if you turn it on, your phone notes its location about every 15 minutes and keeps it on the phone only for 90 days. It is sent to us only as a short list of places when you ask the assistant a question, to answer it, and is not stored by us.
  • We do not collect your precise location except through these features, which ask for permission first and can be turned off.

2.3a Device permissions the Eidok app asks for

  • Microphone and camera: calls, voice and video messages, reels, live video, Proof Vault and voice input.
  • Location: the features in 2.3 only. "Allow all the time" is asked only for the optional My Day timeline.
  • Contacts (optional): to find friends already on Eidok. Your address book never leaves the phone: each email and number is turned into a one-way code (SHA-256 hash) and only those codes are sent; we compare them with verified emails and numbers and do not keep what you sent. You can turn off "Let people find me".
  • Notifications, phone calls and showing over the lock screen: to ring for Eidok calls and life-threatening alerts like a phone call, and to put an Eidok call on hold when a phone call comes.
  • Photos and files: only the ones you choose to share.

If the app stops unexpectedly, it sends us a crash report (app version, phone model, Android version and the technical error) so we can fix it. It does not contain your messages or posts.

2.4 Information from cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and understand how Eidok is used. See section 10.

2.5 Push notifications

If you allow notifications, your browser or device gives us a notification token so we can send you alerts, for example when someone comments on your post or sends you a friend request.

3. Information We Receive from Others

3.1 Other people on Eidok

Other people may share information about you — for example, when they tag you, mention you, share a photo that includes you, invite you to a group or event, or send you a message.

3.2 Eye News BD

If you choose to sign in with Eye News BD, Eye News BD confirms your identity to us and shares your basic profile, such as your name, username, email address and profile picture, so we can create or link your Eidok account. News reports, videos and summaries from Eye News BD also appear on Eidok, and when you share an Eye News BD story to Eidok we receive the link and its preview.

3.3 Connected shops (Eidok Link)

When the owner of an online shop built on the Metanoz website platform chooses to connect it with Eidok Link, we receive from Metanoz:

  • the shop’s public information: name, logo, website address, contact phone number, address and description;
  • the shop’s products (titles, descriptions, prices, images and links) and published blog posts;
  • the owner’s name and email address, used to create or link the owner’s Eidok account.

We keep this information up to date by synchronising regularly with the shop’s website, and we stop synchronising if the owner disconnects.

3.4 Service providers and security partners

Providers that help us run Eidok may send us information, for example reports about security threats, spam or suspected fraud, and delivery information about emails and notifications.

4. How We Use Information

4.1 To operate and improve the Service

  • Create and maintain your account and profile, and let you sign in securely.
  • Store, process and display the content you share to the audience you choose.
  • Deliver messages and notifications.
  • Resize, compress and deliver photos and videos quickly, including lighter versions when Data Saver is on.
  • Run groups, pages, events, the marketplace and other features.
  • Diagnose problems, measure performance and develop new features.

4.2 To personalise your experience

  • Build your feeds: Following (people, pages and groups you follow), For You (popular content) and Discover.
  • Apply requests you make with Tell your feed, such as showing only certain topics or reducing others.
  • Suggest people you may know, pages, groups, events and content you may like, using signals such as mutual friends, your interests, your location and what you engage with.
  • Show a “What did I miss?” summary of important updates from your friends when you return.
  • Show your content in your chosen language and translate content from other languages where the feature allows it.

4.3 To connect you with people

  • In Moment Match, match the moment you share with a similar moment someone else is living, and show you each other’s first name, country and moment.
  • In Adda, let you invite friends to watch reels together and show who is in the room.
  • Suggest people with shared interests you might like to meet.

4.4 To keep people safe

  • Detect, prevent and respond to spam, scams, fake accounts, harassment, exploitation and other harmful behaviour.
  • Review content and accounts that are reported or flagged, and enforce our Terms and Community Protection Guidelines.
  • Check Moment Match photos and chat messages for unsafe content before they are shown or delivered.
  • Protect accounts from unauthorised access, for example by detecting unusual sign-in activity.
  • Apply additional protections to people under 18.

4.5 To support businesses

  • Count visits and “Buy Now” taps on products, and may show Page owners and connected shops aggregated statistics based on them. These statistics do not reveal who you are.
  • Add a tracking tag (such as utm_source=eidok) to “Buy Now” links so shops can see that a visit came from Eidok. This tag does not contain personal information about you.
  • Deliver advertising and boosted content, and measure how it performs.

4.6 To communicate with you

We use your contact information to send you account and security messages, respond to your requests, and — where you have not opted out — tell you about activity on Eidok and new features. You can change which emails and notifications you receive in your settings.

4.7 To meet legal obligations

We use information to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, protect the rights, property and safety of our users and the public, and defend legal claims.

5. Artificial Intelligence Features

Several Eidok features use artificial intelligence. To produce a result, we send limited information to an AI service provider — currently Google (Gemini) and OpenAI. Some tasks use Google, some use OpenAI, and if one is unavailable the other may be used. The provider processes this information under its own terms and privacy policy. Here is exactly what each feature uses:

FeatureWhat is sent to the AI providerWhy
Tell your feedYour request or question, and short excerpts of posts and news that may match itTo understand what you want to see and answer your question
Moment Match – sharingA reduced-size copy of your photo, your note and selected moodTo describe the moment, find a similar one and make sure the photo is safe
Moment Match – matchingShort descriptions of the two matched moments (titles, tags, mood, language and country)To write conversation starters and a phrase describing what you share
Moment Match – chatEach chat messageTo translate it into your partner’s language and check it for safety
News summaries and writing helpThe text being summarised or improvedTo produce the summary or suggestion
My Day notesThe text of each note you saveTo file it (what kind of note, when it is due, any amount) so it can remind you
The assistant (Eidok সহায়ক) and morning summaryYour question, recent conversation turns, your notes, the area you are in, reminders and prayer times from your phone, and — only if your timeline is on — the list of your places from the last daysTo answer your question or write your summary from real information
Krishi BondhuYour crop photo or question, and the crops you choseTo suggest likely diseases and farming advice
Call translation (optional)Short pieces of your speech while translation is onTo show and speak the translation
Disaster alertsPublic news headlines and articles only — no personal informationTo find alerts, where they apply and for how long
Safety checks of uploadsPhotos you upload may be checked by our own model and by OpenAI's moderation serviceTo keep sexual and violent content off Eidok
  • We send only what the feature needs. We never send your password or payment details.
  • AI results are generated automatically and can be inaccurate or incomplete.
  • These features are optional. If you prefer not to have your content processed this way, do not use them — the rest of Eidok works without them.
  • Safety checks may stop a Moment Match message from being delivered if it appears to ask for personal information, money or contact details, or contains harassment or sexual content.

5a. Eidok Services

These services are described in full in the Eidok Services Rules. Here is the information each one uses:

  • Calls: voice and video calls run through Eidok's own call server. The two devices agree an encryption key between themselves; when the screen says "End-to-end encrypted", Eidok cannot hear or see the call. We do not record calls. We keep call records (who called whom, when, how long) and connection quality numbers to show your call history and keep calls working.
  • Messages: when every device in a conversation supports it, messages are end-to-end encrypted and we store only the encrypted text. Otherwise they are stored as described in 1.4.
  • Safety & SOS: your family circle, up to 3 emergency numbers (name and phone number), and during an SOS or Safe Walk your places, destination and battery level. Emergency numbers receive an SMS through our SMS provider. Places are deleted 7 days after a session ends.
  • Proof Vault: your recordings, their fingerprints, time and (where allowed) place. They are stored on Eidok's servers, outside the public website, visible only to you and to anyone with the link while sharing is on.
  • Dena-Paona: the records you and the other person create (names, amounts, dates, notes, confirmations), your PIN in hashed form, and SMS logs. A record is visible to both people in it and to the business team if it is in a business ledger.
  • My Day: your notes and reminders settings; family circle status ("I'm safe") and medicines a family member set for you.
  • Real person check (optional): a selfie is compared on Eidok's own server; the frames are deleted as soon as the answer is known; we keep only an encrypted numeric face template (to check a new profile photo later) and the date. Removing the badge deletes them. It is never sent to an AI provider.
  • Phone number: if you add and verify one, it is used for sign-in protection, finding friends (as a one-way code) and the SMS of Safety and Dena-Paona.

6. How Information Is Shared

6.1 With the people you choose

The main purpose of Eidok is sharing. When you post, you choose the audience:

  • Public — anyone on or off Eidok can see it, including people without an account, and it may appear in search engines and be shared by others.
  • Friends — only your friends can see it.
  • Only Me — only you can see it.

Content posted in a group, page or event is visible according to that space’s settings. Your name, username, profile photo and cover photo are always public so that people can find and recognise you. Other profile details follow your privacy settings.

6.2 In Moment Match and Adda

  • In Moment Match, the person you are matched with sees your first name, your country, your moment photo and note, local time and the messages you send. Your full name and profile are revealed only if you both choose “Stay in touch”.
  • If you post a Moment Match card to your timeline, it is shared with the audience you choose.
  • In Adda rooms, people in the room see your name, profile photo and reactions, and hear your voice if you turn your microphone on.

6.3 With service providers

We work with companies that provide services on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect information and use it only to provide their services. They include providers of:

  • hosting, servers and databases;
  • cloud storage and content delivery networks that store and deliver photos and videos;
  • artificial intelligence services (see section 5);
  • email and push notification delivery;
  • analytics, performance monitoring and security;
  • payment processing;
  • customer support tools.

6.4 With partners you choose to connect

  • Eye News BD: when you sign in with Eye News BD or link your accounts, the two services exchange the information needed to recognise you.
  • Connected shops: when you tap “Buy Now” on a product from a connected shop, you leave Eidok and go to the shop’s website. The shop can see that you came from Eidok; anything you enter on their website is governed by their own privacy policy.

6.5 For legal reasons and to prevent harm

We may preserve and share information if we believe in good faith that it is reasonably necessary to:

  • comply with applicable law, regulation or valid legal process;
  • protect the safety of any person, especially children, or prevent death or serious injury;
  • address fraud, security or technical issues;
  • protect the rights and property of Eidok, our users or the public.

6.6 Business transfers

If Eidok is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganisation or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will continue to protect it in line with this policy and tell you about any change of control where required.

6.7 Aggregated and de-identified information

We may share information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it can no longer reasonably identify you — for example, the total number of moments shared in a country on a given day.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

7. How Long We Keep Information

InformationHow long

Security and log informationFor a limited period needed to protect the Service

When you delete content or your account, we remove it from the Service. Copies may remain in backups for a limited period, and we may keep certain information longer where required by law, to resolve disputes, to prevent fraud and abuse, or to enforce our rules. Content that others have shared or copied may remain visible in their accounts.

8. Your Controls and Choices

  • Who sees your posts: choose Public, Friends or Only Me for each post, and change it later.
  • Profile privacy: choose who can see your friends list, photos, pages, groups, birth date, work, education, location and other details.
  • Who can contact you: control who can send you friend requests and messages, who can post on your timeline and whether you appear in chat as online.

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. We offer them to all users wherever reasonably possible:

  • Complaint: complain to a data protection authority where you live.

To exercise these rights, use the tools in your settings or contact us at eidokoffice@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies, such as local storage, for the following purposes:

TypeExamples
EssentialKeeping you signed in, protecting against fraudulent sign-ins, remembering items during a session
PreferencesYour language, day or night mode, Data Saver, dismissed notices and whether you hid certain cards
FeatureRemembering an Adda room you were invited to while you sign up, or a request you made to Tell your feed
Analytics and performanceUnderstanding how many people use a feature and how quickly pages load

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, you will not be able to stay signed in and parts of Eidok will not work.

11. Security

We protect your information with technical and organisational measures, including:

  • encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all traffic between your device and Eidok;
  • hashed password storage;
  • access controls that limit who at Eidok can access personal information;
  • signed, time-limited, single-use links for sign-in between connected services;
  • monitoring for suspicious activity, rate limits and automated abuse protection;
  • two-factor authentication, where available in your security settings.

No online service can guarantee perfect security. Please use a strong, unique password, enable two-factor authentication if available and never share your password. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

12. International Transfers

Eidok is used by people around the world. The servers and service providers we use may be located in countries other than the one where you live, including countries whose data protection laws differ from yours. When we transfer information across borders, we take steps to ensure it continues to be protected as described in this policy.

13. Children and Teens

Eidok is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete the account and its information. People aged 13 to 17 benefit from the additional protections described in our Children’s Safety & Guidance Policy. Parents and guardians who believe a child has provided us with personal information can contact us at eidokoffice@gmail.com.

14. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the law requires a legal basis for processing personal information, we rely on:

  • Contract — to provide the Service you signed up for under our Terms, such as showing your posts and delivering your messages;
  • Legitimate interests — to keep Eidok safe and secure, prevent abuse, improve our features, personalise your feed and support businesses, where these interests are not overridden by your rights;
  • Consent — for example for push notifications, optional features you choose to use, and certain cookies; you can withdraw consent at any time;
  • Legal obligation — where the law requires us to process or keep information;
  • Vital interests — to protect someone’s life or physical safety.

15. Changes to This Policy

We will update this policy as Eidok evolves and as laws change. If we make changes that materially affect your privacy, we will notify you before they take effect, for example through a notice on Eidok or by email. The “Effective” date at the top shows when the policy was last updated. We encourage you to review this policy regularly.

16. Contact Us
